PRODUCTION MUSIC
Boomtown
This is an example (possibly over the top) of using drum breaks to create loads of edit points. It was Duncan who suggested the breaks every 4 bars during the solos, an idea which is growing on me.
I don’t usually recommend key changes in production music as it can sometimes have unfortunate consequences if the track gets edited. This track is an exception. I chose to include almost as many key changes as there are drum breaks, but as the changes are very sudden and deliberately designed to create a random effect there’s a good chance that most edits would work very well.
